Labyrinth Bodies in Motion: Identity Expression to Perpetuate Momentum Feb. 25th - March 15th Every spring, the VU Gallery partners with the AS Women’s Center to produce Labyrinth, a feminist literature and art journal and Gallery show. Labyrinth focuses on empowerment through expression, as well as exploring the many intersections of identity. Labyrinth functions as a space where social binaries can be deconstructed, ideologies challenged, and identities re-claimed. This publication has served as an outlet for students and members of the Bellingham community since the late 1970’s, and explores subjects such as gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, the body, and many others. This year’s theme focuses on identity intersection and expression as an instrument of personal and social change. Artists and writers were inspired to celebrate individual experiences in order to stimulate forward motion and resist forces of opposition. Join us for the Labyrinth Closing Reception on March 13th, 6-8pm in VU 507. There will be readings and performances from the Labyrinth journal, refreshments, and the perfect opportunity to pick up your free copy of the journal. The exhibit will run Mon-Fri from Feb. 25 to March 15, 11am-5pm in the VU Gallery The closing reception will take place on March 13, 6-8pm.
